The large art installation, Valkyrie Octopus, created by the renowned Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, has returned to Grande Praça at MGM Macau just in time for CNY celebration, after years of travelling along the Maritime Silk Road. Valkyrie Octopus has gathered all kinds of auspicious wishes from different cultures for Macau, and every part of the artwork holds a symbol of good fortune, radiating luck to every corner in MGM Macau. All are invited to come and emancipate their very own imagination on this artistic manifestation of fortune.
MGM COTAI, home to over 300 captivating artworks, has also curated the “Guardians of Treasure Art Tour” especially for CNY. Throughout the tour, guests will be hunting for the guardian of treasure, the “Golden Lion”, in the artworks across the hotel to embrace good fortunes, along with interesting folklores sharing provided by the art guides. The “Rooster, Tiger, Sheep by Snake” – Wen-You Cai Photography Exhibition, themed in Chinese zodiac, is also part of in the tour. It is perfect for visiting during CNY, where guests can experience happiness and warmth of family togetherness through the artist’s camera lens. Start an opulent year with the best of luck! MGM’s official WeChat account will launch a Lucky Draw Game, where everyone gets a prize just by participating. Lion Dance Blessings at MGM COTAI & MGM MACAU
Celebrate a brand new lunar new year with lively performances of “Lion Dance Blessing Ceremony” at MGM COTAI and MGM MACAU on January 25, the first day of CNY! MGM executives will perform a joyful eye-dotting traditional ritual on Golden Lions, showering luck and blessings in the year ahead. The ceremony will take place at 11:30 at MGM COTAI, and 16:30 at MGM MACAU.
Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Rat
MGM will once again participate in the annual citywide celebratory event, the “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Rat” organized by Macao Government Tourism Office, which will take place on the 3rd day (January 27) and 8th day (February 1) of CNY. Named “Triumph in Roar”, MGM’s float takes inspiration of the festive traditional Chinese Lion Dance, spreading the warmest blessings and fortune to residents and visitors of Macau with astonishing performances.
