[Monday, August 3] MGM COTAI, one of Macau’s newest integrated resorts standing in the dazzling skyline of Cotai, was featured in the first episode of BBC Two’s television series, Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby series 3, world-premiered on July 14, 2020. Being the very first hotel in the Greater China Region to be featured in this renowned documentary series, the innovative and awe-inspiring features, luxurious accommodations, state-of-the-art employee facilities, as well as the human-centric workplace culture embraced by MGM team members, were all showcased in this very episode through the storytelling lens of BBC.
Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby is a documentary series about some of the most extraordinary hotel destinations across the globe, where the two presenters, columnist Giles Coren and chef Monica Galetti head to work alongside staff in the establishments. In this episode, both presenters thoroughly experienced the luxurious services and offerings of MGM COTAI, then immersed themselves into working life in the hotel to discover what MGM takes to Making Great Moments for guests.
Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said, “MGM COTAI drives with a vision to deliver innovative and one-of-a-kind experiences to Macau and beyond, that makes us a proud trendsetter in the industry and set us apart from our peers. This program takes the audience on a journey to go behind-the-scenes on how we deliver luxury at scale, and offer a closer look at the backstage hard work and our warm-hearted welcoming culture that ensures our meticulous service, exceptional attention to detail to every one of our discerning guests.”
Walking into the “jewelry boxes” of MGM COTAI, Giles and Monica were first brought to the luxurious and unique loft style guest room, the Skylofts, where they were treated to a lineup of VIP experiences. They also explored around the property, leaving their footsteps at the Spectacle which achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title, Asia’s first dynamic theater MGM Theater, then followed by a fine, sumptuous meal at the exquisite Sichuan restaurant Five Foot Road.
Soon Giles and Monica took on various roles across the property under the glamorous surface of an integrated resort. Monica visited the delivery warehouse and kitchens to take a comprehensive look at how a mega-sized hotel supplies all of its restaurants. On the other hand, Giles was offered a position at the Floral department and got his hands on his first-ever floral designing project for the preparation of Chinese New Year.
For the first time on TV, the truly exclusive and luxurious resort within a resort, The Mansion, was unveiled. Monica was assigned to work with two private butlers and attempted to curate personalized service for some elite guests. Meanwhile, Giles joined an art guide training with a group of new docents to learn about the extensive collection of artworks across the hotel.
Since the shooting coincided with Chinese New Year, Monica had the chance to join a team of 200 MGM Volunteers in its annual “Spring Clean for Love” activity. While she spent half a day cleaning 220 households of senior citizens with the team before the most important Chinese holiday, she also got to experience the festivity and the spirit of caring for the elderly shared in the community.
