[May 18, Thursday] Bringing guests and tales together with unparalleled twists in every sip, Bar Patuá at MGM COTAI is thrilled to present the “Double Twists: Lorenzo Coppola x Paul Zhang” – a four-hands malt cocktail pop-up that features renowned mixologist Lorenzo Coppola, Creative Bar Director of Aqua Restaurant Group, and Paul Zhang, Manager of Bar Patuá. Together, the two master mixologists will present a lineup of unique cocktails crafted with classic whisky labels, The Glenrothes and Highland Park, curating a two-night-only exclusive cocktail experience on May 26 and 27.
The Italian-born Lorenzo Coppola started his bartending journey at the age of 17, and his passion for elevating cocktails and creating sensory guest experiences truly knows no bounds. He has built a strong portfolio with recognition from global businesses such as Zuma Rome and Hong Kong, and currently oversees the entirety of Aqua Restaurant Group bars, such as Aqua, Vista and The Dispensary as the group’s Creative Bar Director. Helming Bar Patuá since 2020, the Tianjin-origin mixologist Paul Zhang has won the Champion of the Global Bartending Competition and previously led various bar and lounge teams from numerous international five-star entities. With a deep passion towards traditional Chinese culture and Chinese tea in particular, Paul integrates his expertise in both mixology and tea art to create one-of-a-kind cocktails that tell the tales of China and Macau.
Named after the almost forgotten Macanese creole language that fuses Chinese, Portuguese, Malay and Sinhalese, Bar Patuá pays tribute to Macau’s rich multicultural heritage. At the elegantly ornamented bar that fuses classic and contemporary as well as Oriental and European styles, Lorenzo and Paul welcome guests to taste the masterful blend of East and West with four original whisky-based cocktails exclusively created for the event. Featuring The Glenrothes 12 Years Old single malt, Lorenzo created Glenrothes Colada, a playful and lush twist of the tropical classic; with notes on the contrary, Paul created Golden Embrace to highlight the depth of vanilla and cinnamon taste note of the whisky with warm spices and more. With the Highland Park 12 Years Old single malt, Lorenzo and Paul crafted two other innovative twists from the crowd’s favorite classic cocktails, Highland Park Highball, a bright fizz with hints of tart fruitiness, and Black Tea Manhattan, a sophisticated interpretation inspired by Chinese tea culture.
The aforesaid original whisky cocktails of The Glenrothes 12 Years Old and Highland Park 12 Years Old will be served by the two master mixologists on May 26 and 27 respectively, priced at MOP180* per glass. For enquiry and reservation, please contact (853) 8806 2398 or visit www.mgm.mo.
