July 30 - EMBARK ON A SCRUMPTIOUS JOURNEY WITH MGM CULINARY TOUR

[Thursday, July 30] MGM invites all gastronomy enthusiasts in town to get on board the new “MGM Culinary Tour”, the ultimate trip for the palate to tour through world’s gourmet capitals in one go! Taking off every weekend from August 8 at MGM COTAI, this cuisine journey navigates through the best restaurants in the hotel to explore their signature gourmet and the stories behind; from the fiery spices and herbs of traditional Sichuanese cuisine at Five Foot Road, sophisticated Cantonese classics at Chún, sizzling premium wagyu grills at Grill 58, all the way to some unique cocktail experience at Bar Patuá, all in just a meal of time.

A great occasion to explore a broad spectrum of flavors, the five-course “MGM Culinary Tour” captures some of the most iconic dishes and wine pairings of four most distinctive restaurants at MGM COTAI. The journey begins at Five Foot Road, an authentic Chengdu style Sichuanese fine dining restaurant highlighting the rich and complex flavors originated from the area. Guests take off with the restaurant’s signature tea blend to soothe and prepare the palate for the appetizer platter comprised of Sichuanese favorites, including Marinated fresh abalone with home-made sauce and Crispy mullet carpaccio with Sichuan peppercorn sauce to showcase the true flavors of the cuisine.

Off to the next stop, the Cantonese restaurant Chún presents Double-boiled silkie chicken soup with pearl meat and sea coconut and Wok-fried Boston lobster with trio onions. The former is a light but nutritious soup packed with goodness from both the land and the sea, perfect for any summer nights. The latter best represents “wok chi” and freshness, two of the most important elements of Cantonese cuisine, where the lively Boston lobster, first cooked in high temperature oil, then stir-fired with the onion trios and aged Hua Diao wine to have its freshness fully preserved.

The journey continues to Grill 58, the go-to restaurant for exceptional meat and a destination for food and wine connoisseurs. It offers the guests Snake River Farm M9 Wagyu Grain Fed • Striploin, a cut that comprises both buttery marbling and robust beefy flavor. Pairing with the MGM exclusive 2017 1812 MGM Private Label, Luis Pato, Bairraida, Portugal, the vibrant acidity and ample tannins from the Baga grapes of Bairraida truly elevates the melt-in-mouth wagyu experience.

Final stop of the journey lands at Bar Patuá, a classic yet contemporary bar that serves crafted cocktails infused with oriental attributes. After a dessert to leave a sweet note to the journey, the bar’s classic signature cocktail, Patuá, is to follow, drawing a perfect ending to this sumptuous journey. Celebrating “Patuá”, an almost-forgotten Macanese creole language that fuses Chinese, Portuguese, Malay and Sinhalese, the cocktail of the same name is packed with elements that shaped its unique identity: local Baijiu “Macao Fachau”, Porcelain Gin from Shanghai and the 10-year-old Tawny Port putting together a base, alongside the local health remedy “Pei Pa Koa” and an infusion mix of Sri Lankan cinnamon, Indian cardamom, cloves and peppercorns from the Straits of Malacca to pay full homage to the language.

“MGM Culinary Tour” will be available every Saturday and Sunday from August 8 onward, welcoming all foodies in town to indulge in the most scrumptious gastronomy offerings of MGM! Experience for one is priced at MOP1,688*. 48-hour advance booking is required. For reservation and enquiry, please contact (853) 8802 1888. * Subject to 10% service charge.
