October 29 - MGM PRESENTS MGM CHEF NIC GASTRONOMUSIC FEST

[Tuesday, October 29] True to its vision of pioneering the trends in arts and culture through an “East-meets-West” dialogue that engages creative talents from all corners of the world, MGM is delighted to present a new collaboration with Chef Nic, a gourmet brand founded by Nicholas Tse. For a limited time between November 30 and December 1 at MGM COTAI’s Roof Terrace, the talented singer-chef will put on both hats to conjure up a one-of-a-kind extravaganza of multisensory delights combining music and culinary gigs with the Chef Nic team from the eponymous TV show and a stellar lineup of master chefs of MGM COTAI. Entitled “MGM Chef Nic Gastronomusic Fest”, the two-day event is an invitation to beautiful life for locals and visitors to indulge in gourmet food, pop music and great entertainment.

First-ever Exchange Platform for Creative Sound & Taste

“MGM Chef Nic Gastronomusic Fest” will double as an international exchange platform, where Nicholas and his team join master chefs of MGM COTAI and the city’s most sought-after celebrity chefs to strike sparks off each other in a culinary exploration. This delectable gig will run in parallel to an open-air live concert, offering the audience an unprecedented experience combining sound and taste that lends itself to Macau’s unique charm as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

An enticing flow of gourmet delights will be dishing out at MGM COTAI, including Taco Nikkei from Aji, Double Double Beef Burger from Coast, Slow Cooked Beef Cheek, potato espuma and beef jus from Grill 58, Dan Dan noodle with minced pork from Five Foot Road, Barbecued pork with honey served with steamed rice and Simmered chicken with supreme soya sauce served with steam rice from Hao Guo, alongside a mouthwatering selection of tapas and canapes such as Pan con tomato and Morcon prepared by Bar Patua, and desserts including Chiffon Cake and the 80-year old Macau local homemade Laikei Ice Cream.

Live Demos Revisiting Delicious Moments on TV

The event will feature live demonstrations by the Chef Nic team, revisiting some of the most delicious scenes on the eponymous TV reality show. Sumptuous examples include Pani Puri Truffle Potato Soup envisioned by overall champion Gao Danyi with reference to bird’s nest and her own rendition of Philippines Home Style Crispy Pata marinated with Singaporean Bak Kut Teh broth. Chuck Xing, who finished third in his write-in campaign, will reinterpret Nicholas Tse’s signature dish Fried Cod Steak & Deep Fried Cod Skin with Miso Sauce, a creative take on cod from the West and dried lily bulbs from the East. Another creation by Xing is a trio of golden scallops as sashimi, mousse and soup. Top-five contender Yang Beichuan will unleash his ‘East-meets-West’ creativity on Pork Gua Bao featuring 36-hour slow cooked pork belly in fermented red beancurd sauce, served with red salsa and homemade bread. Yang will also demonstrate his sensational dessert Repulse Bay, combining zesty Thai lime infused mango jelly, pandan leaf & coconut juice, pomelo, maple syrup and plum powder ice. Over at the baking room, Chef Nic’s head pastry chef C.C. Lo will join Amanda. S for the redo of Dark Chocolate Tiramisu and Rose Cream Puff. Meanwhile Ermanno Lelli, the man behind the Italian private kitchen Segreto, will satiate foodies with “A Breeze from East over Roman Hills”, a family pasta recipe and “Grandma Luisa’s Secret”, eggplant Parmigiana reinvented with chocolate by the chef’s grandmother.

A Multisensory Experience Elevated

“MGM Chef Nic Gastronomusic Fest” is an Asian music powerhouse headlined by the much-anticipated return of Nicholas on stage with his high-octane Rock ‘n’ Roll repertoire, alongside an A-list cast of performers including Joey Yung, Adason Lo, Angela Hui and Liu Junge. And the heat goes on with powerful gigs from Mr., JW, Joanna Dong from Singapore, and emerging Macanese group MFM. Asia’s party fixture DJ Corsak will put an electro spin on the footloose party.

“MGM Chef Nic Gastronomusic Fest” is part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Macao SAR, injecting new impetus into the city’s entertainment landscape with a sensational collage of taste and sound. Tickets are out now.
