January 17 - MGM CELEBRATES CHINESE NEW YEAR WITH FESTIVE HOLIDAY DELICACIES

[Thursday, January 17] As the Year of the Pig will be celebrated soon, MGM offers an exciting array of festive delicacies, not limited to the traditional Lunar New Year selections, but also the nouvelle-fusion delights. Let’s celebrate life and welcome an opulent year in style!

Sumptuous Cantonese Gastronomies

Poon Choi, or the Big Bowl Feast, is the must-have Chinese New Year gastronomic delight in Cantonese culture, with a delicious mix and attentive layering of ingredients inside a fortune pot. This dish symbolizes affluence and unity, making it a perfect treat to indulge your loved ones. During Lunar New Year, the Chinese restaurants, Chun in MGM COTAI and Imperial Court in MGM MACAU, will offer two types of traditional Big Bowl Feast set between January 30 to February 17, priced from MOP 1,580*. Both sets include abalone, fish maw, Japanese dried scallop, sea cucumber and ten more other luscious choices.

In addition, both restaurants will offer a range of ingenious New Year's Special Set Menus, a-la-carte dishes and dim sums from February 5. Chun specializes in a variety of creative and contemporary Cantonese dishes, such as the Crispy-fried shrimp, Seaweed and kimchi rolled with rice paper, as well as the Steamed glutinous rice dumpling with sesame, peanut and saffron. Imperial Court is keeping its daintiness by offering some of the nostalgic dishes, including Wok-fried scrambled egg with fish maw and conpoy and Braised whole pigeon stuffed with Yunnan ham, lotus seed, salted egg yolk and chestnut. Don’t miss the chance to sample the scrumptious feast with symbolism of good fortune and happiness for the holiday season.

Authentic Sichuan Festive Delights

On top of the Cantonese feasts, throughout the Lunar New Year period, Five Foot Road is dedicated to bring the authentic Sichuan festive delicacies, Chengdu Nine Dishes Banquet, to town between January 21 and February 17, with an exciting array of regional classics to tempt all food lovers. In Chinese culture, the number ‘nine’ has auspicious meanings of longevity and eternity, which is why Sichuanese serves nine dishes to highlight their lucky spirit for the prosperous year, as well as to showcase their bountiful gourmet culture.

With over 30 years of experience in the Sichuan culinary field, Chef de Cuisine of Five Foot Road, Chef Yang Deng Quan crafts the sought-after specialties with a range of Sichuan comfort food. The spring feast includes dishes such as Double-boiled duck soup with pork and kelp, Sichuan style dried meat platter, Braised pork knuckle with chicken soup, thousand-year egg and dried bamboo shoot, as well as the Braised pork belly with fermented glutinous rice and water chestnut and more. The special Chengdu Nine Dishes Banquet is perfect to be shared with six guests at MOP3,888*.
